Cognitive rehabilitation is a therapeutic approach designed to help individuals improve, restore, or compensate for difficulties with thinking skills that may result from a brain injury, neurological condition, or other cognitive impairment. It focuses on areas such as memory, attention, concentration, problem-solving, organization, planning, communication, judgment, and executive functioning. Cognitive rehabilitation may involve structured exercises, practical strategies, environmental modifications, and the use of compensatory tools—such as calendars, reminders, checklists, or electronic devices—to help individuals function more independently in their daily lives. In a community-based setting, the overall goal is to help the individual apply cognitive skills and strategies to real-life activities, increasing independence, safety, participation, and quality of life.
-
Work readiness services help individuals develop the essential skills, behaviors, and workplace habits needed to prepare for, obtain, and maintain successful employment. Areas may include effective communication, appropriate workplace behavior, accepting supervision, problem-solving, social skills, grooming and hygiene, goal setting, work tolerance, reliability, and other employment-related “soft skills.”
