Our Commitment

Advocate Homecare is committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to all visitors, including individuals with disabilities. We actively work to maintain and improve the accessibility of our site in accordance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA.

Current Accessibility Status

This website has been evaluated across all primary pages using the WAVE Web Accessibility Evaluation Tool (WebAIM) and manual review conducted by Organiq Media. The following pages were audited:

What We Have Done

  • All images include descriptive alternative text written in person-first language

  • Heading structure is maintained throughout the site to support screen reader navigation

  • All pages include a skip navigation link allowing keyboard users to bypass repetitive content

  • Color contrast for all visible text meets or exceeds WCAG 2.1 AA requirements

  • The site is built on a mobile-responsive framework and functions across screen sizes and devices

  • ARIA labels are applied to interactive elements including navigation, social media icons, and accordion components

  • Scroll animations have been disabled to reduce motion-related accessibility barriers

  • Site language is declared on every page

Known Limitations

The following items were identified during our audit. Where possible, remediation was applied. Items that could not be resolved are documented below with explanation.

Contrast Alerts — Platform Limitation

Automated scanning identified contrast alerts across all pages. Upon investigation, all flagged elements were confirmed to be fully transparent layout placeholders generated by Squarespace's Fluid Engine template engine. These elements contain no visible text or user-facing content, are invisible to all users, and do not affect the accessibility of any page content. This is a known platform behavior that cannot be remediated through third-party customization.

Newsletter Form Label — Platform Limitation

The email input field in the newsletter signup form is powered by Squarespace's native Newsletter Block, which renders in a sandboxed iframe. The form field label is generated by Squarespace's internal code and cannot be modified through third-party customization. Users wishing to subscribe may contact us directly at info@advocate-homecare.com.

Redundant Navigation Links — Platform Limitation

Squarespace's header system renders separate desktop and mobile navigation elements, both containing identical links. These are flagged as redundant by automated tools. Screen reader behavior is handled appropriately through Squarespace's built-in ARIA implementation and does not create a barrier for assistive technology users.

Gallery Image Redundancy — Platform Limitation

Photo galleries on service pages use Squarespace's built-in gallery block. The platform generates visually hidden duplicate elements alongside gallery images as part of its internal accessibility implementation. All visible gallery images include accurate, descriptive alternative text written in person-first language. The duplication is a platform behavior that cannot be modified.

Noscript Elements — Platform Limitation

Gallery blocks and embedded Google Maps generate noscript fallback elements automatically. These are standard browser fallback behaviors for users with JavaScript disabled and do not affect accessibility for the overwhelming majority of users.

Heading Hierarchy — Footer

A heading level alert is flagged in the site footer across all pages. Upon review, all footer heading levels are consistent and correctly structured within the footer context. This alert is caused by Squarespace's footer rendering order relative to page content headings and does not represent a true heading hierarchy violation.

Third-Party Content

This website embeds third-party content including Google Maps and social media links. These tools are subject to their own accessibility standards and are outside the scope of this accessibility statement. We encourage our third-party providers to maintain accessible products.
